Single row deep groove ball bearings with seals or shields are particularly versatile, have low friction and are optimized for low noise and low vibration, which enables high rotational speeds. 

They accommodate radial and axial loads in both directions, are easy to mount, and require less maintenance than many other bearing types. 

The integral sealing can significantly prolong bearing service life because it keeps lubricant in the bearings and contaminants out.

The SKF 6001 is part of the 6000 series of deep groove ball bearings and is one of the most commonly used bearings in various mechanical and industrial applications.

Variants:

• 6001 (Open): This variant has no seals or shields, allowing easy access for lubrication. It is typically used in clean environments where maintenance and lubrication can be managed externally.

• 6001-2RS: This variant has two rubber seals (on both sides) to protect the bearing from dirt, moisture, and contaminants, providing a more sealed environment and requiring less maintenance.

• 6001-2Z: This version has two metal shields (on both sides) to provide some level of protection against contaminants while still being low-maintenance. The metal shields do not provide the same sealing as rubber seals, but they help retain the lubrication inside the bearing.

• 6001-ZZ: This variant comes with two metal shields (ZZ) like the 2Z, offering similar protection from dirt and moisture.

Dynamic Load Rating (C):

• Around 6.2 kN (depending on the variant and specific conditions).

Static Load Rating (C0):

• Around 3.4 kN (also depending on the exact version).

Speed:

• The speed capability of the SKF 6001 can vary depending on lubrication, operating conditions, and load but can typically operate at high speeds up to 12,000 RPM or more under normal conditions.

Material:

• SKF 6001 bearings are typically made from high-quality chrome steel (100Cr6), which is known for its excellent hardness, wear resistance, and durability.

• The inner and outer rings are heat-treated to ensure good load-carrying capacity and long service life.
